It was a great pleasure to compose the music for dance-theatre performance “Der Widersprüchliche” by theatre director Clemens Bechtel and choreographer Maura Morales. Here are a few impressions.

The FFT, our home theatre in Düsseldorf, has a new venue.

A few months ago, Cooperativa Maura Morales was asked by the FFT team to talk about her thoughts and visions for the new venue in the theatre foyer in KAP1, which was still unfinished at the time.

Yesterday, the much-acclaimed premiere of “Prelude to the Cold”, the new production by Cooperativa Maura Morales, took place at the FFT in Düsseldorf. Today and tomorrow you can see the play again at the FFT. I will perform the entire stage music live! Come by!

I am honoured that this weekend music composed by me will be heard in three different city/state theatres in Germany.

Firstly at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, my composition for BATS, the current production of the Sebastian Weber Dance Company, and secondly at the Theater Osnabrück, my composition for ZEIT, the current production of the Dance Company Osnabrück under dance director/choreographer Marguertite Donlon and at the Theater Stralsund my music for OTHELLO for the Ballett Vorpommern under Ralf Dörnen.

It is a great pleasure for me to compose the music for ZEIT, the new production of the Dance Company Osnabrück under Marguerite Donlon at the Theater Osnabrück. Here are a few impressions. Premiere is on 30 October 2021

Together with director Clemens Bechtel, Cooperativa Maura Morales is creating the piece “Der Widersprüchliche- Begegnungen mit A.v.Humbolt” for 4 dancers and 3 actors at the Hombolt Forum in Berlin. Premiere is on 9 December 2021

I’m looking forward to the BATS premiere of the Sebastian Weber Dance Company tonight at LOFFT-Das Theater in Leipzig.

The city’s freelance music scene enters the Tonhalle: From more than 60 applications for the project “Neuland”, the Tonhalle jury around artistic director Michael Becker has selected 12 ensembles and soloists who will perform a fulminant concert marathon in the livestream on June 10. Michio will be there with his live looping solo program.

Michio would have been there as a live musician of the Cooperativa Maura Morales with two productions at three venues on four different days.

Whenever I compose at a theater, I go around looking for interesting sounds the building has to offer for the sound design of the composition So the Sondtrack of the theatre house is interwoven with that of the stagemusic and becomes something unique. I am currently composing the music for the guest choreography “Verwandlung/Fremdkörper” by Maura Morales for TanzThaterMünster at Theater Münster
